About

Join us on the journey of Razoo Polishing by our founder Richard Jenkins. From its beginnings to its ever adaptive landscape.

Beginnings

174 George St, Quirindi NSW 2343.

"My father, Murray Jenkins, was restoring this beautfuil building on George Street in our home town of Quirindi. He asked if i could polish up all the Brass including the front street numbers. It was then that i fell in love with not only Brass polishing but metal polishing as a rewarding skill. It was something that my father was known for doing as a finishing touch to his projects, restoring the shine to Brass and Copper. Something that complimented his quality and skill as a specialisedd building restorer"

University Years

Lismore & Armidale NSW

"While working in a career of Audio Visual Engineering across multiple Universities in Australia, I still worked on Brass restoration projects from time to time but only on small scale and for friends. But every time i did i had a renewed appreciation for the skill."

The big smoke

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

"I moved to Melbourne and continued work in the Collaborative Technologies space but I couldn't help but notice all the beautiful Brass around Melbourne CBD. Alot of the Brass was heavily tarnished, I thought surely there are Metal Polishing businesses in Melbourne to maintain all of this beautiful metal! A local coffee spot i liked was the Queensberry Pour House in Carlton. I offered to restore the lovely brass sign they had out the front and to add matching Brass Screws."

Razoo was BOrn

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

"I did some research and found that there were some amazing Metal polishers in Melbourne. But they had invested in their workshops, so they weren't really interested in Onsite work. There was an opportunity for me to start a business doing onsite polishing work which quickly gained momentum. A brilliant engineer and friend I was working with at the time, Nicholas Haritos, mentioned the phrase Not Worth a Brass Razoo. And so the name of RAZOO stuck"

Old world style

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

"As COVID came around it actually made polishing easier. Alot of government buildings were empty for the first time in along time. I thought it would be cool/funny to dress up like an old world chimney sweeper or something from the 1800s. I did it as a joke once and it stayed as a style of the brand ever since. Here I am outside the former minister for finances office in the Federal Treasury Building. Alot of brass in that one"

Polishers

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

"While working on a project I heard of another gentleman who was also doing brass and copper onsite work. Brian the Copper Doctor. We both had the same appreciation of the quality and luxury that polished metals ca bring to businesses. We teamed up on some projects and continue to collaborate to this day".

Unique Jobs

Alexandria, Victoria, Australia

"Continuing to work on unique and creative brass structures for clients in the Victorian region. This was an interesting job. I had to build a custom made mount that would roll along the edge of the brass with a battery powered burnisher. It had to be sanded whilst mounted in the air in its final position so to create an even satin finish. 5mm thick Brass. This is called a Ceiling Oculus. It came up beautiful and the customer was very happy."

finding gaps

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

"Something i noticed while organising my tools and supplies was that there really isn't a one stop shop for Polishers. Or even for the Customer. There is pletty of online services for metal fabricators, but not for polishers. Also there was very few and far between polishers as it was. With my background in tech, i decided to focus on building the services that polishers and customers need"

Sea change

Coffs Harbour, NSW, Australia

"Several life events made it obvious that it was time to move from Melbourne. After some recooperation with family back in Quirindi, I had the opportunity to move to Coffs Harbour. There I continued my work remotely from home and started polishing and restoring items for customers from my home setup. IN the meantime building the online services for Razoo and referring polishing work i was getting to other Polishers I had met along the way."

Customer POrtal

Remote, Australia

"An aspect that had come up several times in the past while working in Melbourne, was the customers desire for an Online Asset Management portal for polished metals. The majority of Razoos Customers were commercial and managed multiple buildings. So it made sense to build that first. The platform continues to evolve and is built to what the customer wants. Automating alot of the heavy lifting and removing headaches"

Community

Remote, Australia

"So whats next? I want to enable the framework for the Customer Portal and the Polishers Portal to be part of an international community and to expand the Polishers Network globally. There is amazing polishing work happening all around the world. Razoo has the opportunity to join those teams together and be a platform for collaboration and success. Also to be a Training Platform for the next generation of Polishers. Lets make it happen!"
